Ryan Scritchlow, an insurance agent with COUNTRY Financial in Bloomington, IL, brings an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for building into his work in financial services.

Before entering the industry, Ryan was already starting businesses, launching his first company in college and developing a strong interest in creating systems, solving problems, and working with people. What ultimately drew him to financial services was the realization that it offered the same opportunity to build, just in a different way. From developing a business and structuring policies to building long term client relationships, the role aligned naturally with his strengths.

He did not take a traditional path into the profession. Coming in as a business owner, Ryan immediately approached his agency with a long term vision, opening one of the larger offices in his district, hiring a team early, and focusing on building strong processes and infrastructure from the start. His philosophy centers on doing things the right way and trusting that strong systems and people will drive results over time.

Ryan particularly enjoys the challenge and constant evolution that comes with business ownership. He views it as an ongoing process of testing, learning, and refining, where adaptability is key. That mindset has also shaped the type of clients he works best with, business owners, while he continues to expand toward more comprehensive financial planning to better serve their broader needs.

He was introduced to NAIFA through his district manager, Christopher Mizell, and quickly recognized the value of being in the room with other professionals who are committed to growth. While still early in his membership, he sees clear long term benefits in the connections, ideas, and perspective that come from engaging with peers who are operating at a high level.

Ryan also brings a strong appreciation for advocacy, serving as Chair of his local Chamber’s PAC. That experience has reinforced his understanding of how important it is to stay engaged and proactive when it comes to issues that impact the industry and clients alike.

At his core, Ryan sees himself as a business owner first, someone driven by building teams, developing systems, and creating opportunities for growth. He recognizes that the profession is not easy and requires constant adjustment, but for those willing to embrace the challenge, it offers a rewarding and dynamic career path.
