NAIFA-OK Vice President of Advocacy Chad Tredway, LUTCF®, FSCP®, always knew he wanted to be in the financial services industry. He studied actuarial science in college but found his true calling working with customers directly, learning their stories, and helping them as they mapped out their financial futures. After several years as an agent, he was appointed as a district manager. Now, he uses his years of experience as an agent to mentor and train agents.
Throughout his 23 years with NAIFA, Tredway has been a leader in advocating for Main Street USA and the insurance and financial services industry. He participates in NAIFA’s Annual Congressional Conference and has built relationships with federal and state legislators. He talks about his experience by saying, “I enjoy hearing [legislators’] insight and what's going on. It is amazing what NAIFA has done all of these years to help Americans’ financial security.”
Tredway says being a NAIFA member has been “phenomenal” for his business, career, and personal life. “NAIFA’s Advisor Today magazine is one of the most valuable resources for NAIFA members,” says Tredway. “All you need to do is read one article [in each issue] and you will get enough out of that to pay for your membership,” he begins. “Just pick out something you're a little unfamiliar with or something you need a boost on.”
Networking through NAIFA has helped Tredway learn and grow as a professional, he says. Through attending NAIFA events, he’s learned from and built relationships with fellow members. Much of his business is multiline, so he embraces the opportunity to interact with professionals with other specialties.
Tredway is a graduate of NAIFA’s Leadership in Life Institute (LILI) and describes the program as “life-changing” saying, “It helped bring a lot of clarity to many different things and it's helped me more than any course that I've ever taken.”
For Tredway, it’s important to have a glass-half-full attitude. He recalls the keynote address from Dr. Michelle Rozen at NAIFA’s Apex Sales Summit. She discussed how looking for the problems in any situation used to be an evolutionary advantage—but it isn’t anymore. “If we are still in that mindset, we miss so many opportunities,” says Tredway.
When he’s not working, Tredway enjoys spending time with his family, watching sports, and collecting sports cards. He stays involved in his community by helping those in need and has coached and mentored young athletes.
For his service to his community and our industry and association, we’re #NAIFAproud to have Chad Tredway as a part of our NAIFA family.
