Jamie Matson serves her clients at The Haney Company with a personal connection.
When Matson started her career in human resources, she soon found a passion for employee benefits. Through her work, she became acquainted with several colleagues in the insurance industry. So, when she decided it was time for a change, she took a role as an account executive at a benefits brokerage firm.
As a benefits specialist, Matson found that she enjoyed developing relationships with clients, helping them find the best benefits options for their circumstances and plan for their financial futures. She talks about one experience that reinforced for her the importance of her work. She encouraged a coworker to sign up for voluntary life insurance for herself and her three children. When her coworker lost her 16-year-old daughter a few years later, Matson helped her file the death claim. “It was impactive and emotional,” Matson recalls. “Her child who was killed in an auto accident was the same age as my oldest child. I tell that story to people because they don't realize how much [life insurance] can assist them in their time of need.”
In 2020, Matson started her own agency, but the COVID-19 pandemic made things difficult. After 3 years, she decided to seek out a new opportunity and found it at The Haney Company. Now, she works with clients of all ages. With her Medicare certification, she helps seniors understand their healthcare options and choose the right product for them.
Matson learned about NAIFA when she joined The Haney Company and was excited to join. “The [NAIFA members] I've met are phenomenal professionals,” she says. She’s looking forward to meeting more insurance and financial services professionals and continuing to learn more through her NAIFA membership.
When she’s not working, Matson loves traveling to the coast—any coast—and spending time at home with her children and two dogs. She also gives back to her community, volunteering with local nonprofits and Habitat for Humanity. It’s fulfilling, she says, when she uses her own hands to help members of her community build their homes and futures.
Thank you, Jamie, for your hard work and dedication. We look forward to a bright future in the association for you and are #NAIFAproud to call you one of our own.
