For Michael (Mike) Emmert, serving clients means learning everything there is to know about the products and services he provides.

Emmert has been in the insurance and financial services industry for four and a half years, but he previously had a long career in pharmaceutical sales. He has always strived to learn the intricacies of his industry and develop extensive product knowledge, and he brought that passion and attention to detail to his career in insurance and financial services.

“What I like is the opportunity that we have to make an impact,” he says. “We can share knowledge with others, show them what the benefits are, why this is important today, why it's going to be more important to them as they reach that retirement age, and what kind of impact it can have on them and their families.”

Emmert works with a wide range of people, but he finds working with families especially rewarding. He can relate to their values and priorities: they want to have a stable future and are looking for someone to be with them for the long haul. With Prudential, Emmert offers a full range of financial planning and insurance services and can meet all his clients’ needs.

While he’s helped many families, Emmert recalls one client he had an especially profound impact on: a 65-year-old woman who has worked a blue-collar job all of her career. He was the first person to sit down with her and explain her options. “Nobody's ever taken the time with her to explain why she got that life insurance policy when she was younger, or how she can make her small 401(k) work with their social security and extend well into the future,” he says. Interactions like that make Emmert’s career all the more meaningful to him.

When he’s not working, Emmert loves spending time outdoors. He enjoys cycling with his wife, hunting, fishing, and kayaking. Emmert is very involved with his church and serves on the board of directors for the Topeka Independent Business Association, a 75-member organization of small, locally run businesses. An avid whiskey fan, Emmert helps run a whiskey tasting at the annual Topeka Irish Fest, always featuring his favorite, the single-pot still Irish whiskey Redbreast.

Emmert believes NAIFA membership is an essential part of any insurance or financial advisor’s career. “I think we need to belong to and be part of an organization that supports us and fights for us,” he says. "And if I need information, recommendations, or continuing education, that's the place that I should go.” Emmert attends NAIFA Kansas meetings and appreciates the benefits that NAIFA membership offers. “If I can be part of that group and get to know what they know, that friendship and camaraderie will benefit me, them, and—hopefully—our clients.”

Thank you, Mike, for your service to our industry and association. We’re #NAIFAproud to call you one of our own.
