Two NAIFA members are among the general agents appointed by American United Life Insurance Company, a OneAmerica company, to help expand the firm’s distribution network.

“We take great pride in our mutual organization and financial strength because they give us the ability to put our policyholders first,” says Mark Wilkerson, president of individual life and financial services for the OneAmerica companies. “With these professionals joining us as general agents and expanding into new markets, we can be confident that we will be reaching even more customers and helping them build brighter financial futures.”

The two agents are:

James Chapel of FMC Financial Group in Newport Beach, Calif. Chapel started selling insurance as a career agent in 1978, and in 1981, founded J.F. Chapel and Associates Insurance Services with offices in Los Angeles and Orange County. He later founded Western United Insurance Company, a property and casualty agency specializing in automobile insurance. He grew that agency from $3.2 million in direct written premium in 1991 to more than $60 million in 1994. Chapel is a member of NAIFA, MDRT, GAMA and AALU.

FMC Financial Group currently has 13 agents on staff, but plans to recruit an additional 25 professionals to the firm in the next two years.

Brian Cook, LUTCF, of Kentucky Blue Blood Financial Group in Lexington, Ky. Cook has been actively involved in the NAIFA board in Kentucky, and holds several industry achievement awards from GAMA for sales and unit production. Kentucky Blue Blood Financial Group currently has nine agents on staff, but Cook says he plans to recruit an additional 30 professionals to the firm in the next three years.
