Please join the Boards of Directors of NAIFA-Greater Washington and the Greater Washington Foundation of Insurance and Financial Advisors and the Legacy Award Committee in congratulating 2012 Legacy Award Recipient Ron Jerro, CLU. The award was presented on March 14 at the Third Annual Legacy Award Luncheon and Foundation Annual Meeting at Congressional Country Club. Ron’s children and 10 grandchildren joined in the numerous festivities.

The Legacy Award was created in 2009 to combine the traditions and prestige of the 63-year Bernard L. Wilner and the 41-year Harry L. Myers -Victor E. Brandrup awards to recognize an individual, in a single annual presentation, for outstanding service and dedication to the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors-Greater Washington over an extended period of time, and in conformance with the highest standards of professional conduct and unselfish community service.

In announcing this year’s award, 2011 Legacy Award Recipient Randy Scritchfield, CFP®, noted that Ron approached his career and entire life with a strong sense of duty, honor, and service. (Read summary comments here: PDF)

Also at the Legacy Award Luncheon, the Foundation presented financial awards to its community service partners: Coalition to Support America’s Heroes; Family Self Sufficiency Program of Montgomery County; For Love of Children; Mentors Inc. and Project Discovery of Fairfax County. These contributions were made possible by the generous support NAIFA-GW members provide to the Foundation. (Donate to the Foundation here.)

The afternoon’s keynote speaker was Marvin Feldman, CLU, ChFC, RFC, president and CEO of the LIFE Foundation and recipient of the 2011 John Newton Russell Leadership Award, the highest national honor bestowed on an individual in the financial services industry. Marv spoke about leadership and the lessons he has learned through his many years in the industry. (Read the full presentation here: PDF)
