In Memoriam: John Peterson

NAIFA regrets the death of former NAIFA Trustee and Secretary John Peterson, who passed away earlier this month in Tulsa, OK. He was 89 years old.

Peterson was a Fuller Brush salesman before joining Tennessee Life Insurance Company. He was the leading agent for Tennessee Life after the first month and maintained that position until he graduated from the Institute of Insurance Marketing.

He worked for several insurance companies, including Great-West Life, Old Rockland Life Insurance Company, Pacific Mutual Life and John Hancock. He was President and Founder of The Peterson Co., a financial-planning Firm, where he served clients for over 50 years. He was selected to Who's Who in Finance and Industry in 1983. He holds the following professional designations: Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant and Certified Financial Planner, He is also a registered investment advisor.

He was a member of the Board of The Tulsa Boys Home, where he served as Chairman of the Endowment Committee. He also served the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane Club and the Volunteers of America of Tulsa. He was a member of, and Past President of, the Oklahoma Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, the Tulsa Chapter of Certified Financial Planners, the SFSP, and the Tulsa Estate Planning Forum. He also served as NAIFA Trustee and Secretary.
