NAIFA Selects James Lammers as the Kenneth Black Jr. Leadership Award Winner

The Omaha, Nebraska financial professional has served as an inspirational leader within NAIFA and the Society of Financial Service Professionals.

NAIFA is proud to announce that James B. Lammers, CFP, CLU, ChFC, BFA, is the 2025 recipient of the Kenneth Black Jr. Leadership Award. Established in 2006 by the Society of Financial Service Professionals (FSP), the prestigious award honors members who demonstrate exemplary leadership qualities and have made significant contributions toward fulfilling FSP's core values of relationships, education, and ethics A partner at Trusted Wealth Partners in Omaha, Nebraska, Lammers and the 2026 Kenneth Black Jr. Award winner will be honored at the 2027 FSP Institute in Nashville, TN on Sunday, February 7, 2027.

“NAIFA and our FSP community congratulate Jim Lammers as the winner of the 2025 Kenneth Black Jr. Leadership Award,” said NAIFA CEO Kevin Mayeux, CAE. “Jim has been a devoted leader, offering his time and talents to benefit his fellow financial service professionals and the consumers they serve. His leadership on behalf of FSP on the local and national levels, as well as his local NAIFA chapter, have contributed to NAIFA’s continuing success. NAIFA’s awards program, which includes the Kenneth Black Jr. Award, differentiates our outstanding members based on their exemplary achievement and service. Jim is highly deserving of this honor.”

Lammers has been a NAIFA member since 1981, was the 2013-2014 FSP president, and served on the Board of NAIFA-Omaha. His leadership at FSP coincided with the leadership of former NAIFA president Terry K. Headley, a fellow Nebraskan and Lammers’ close friend, and the two of them collaborated to cross-promote the two associations. He continues to serve on numerous national committees, including the selection committee for the American Business Ethics Award, and mentor other leaders within NAIFA and FSP.

“Jim leads by example,” said Richard A. Bell, CLU, ChFC, CFP, MSFS, REBC, RHU, a NAIFA member since 1976, who nominated Lammers for the award. “He is a doer, quick to volunteer and share his knowledge, perspective, and enthusiasm with others. He was the driving force behind FSP Chapter Leadership Conferences for eight years and met and personally mentored chapter leaders from across the country. He helped many chapters survive during some difficult years.”

In addition to his extensive contributions to NAIFA and FSP, Lammers was prominently involved in the Foundation for Financial Service Professionals Financial Education Partners project, which pairs financial professionals with individuals and families referred by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to provide needed, pro-bono financial planning services. Other industry leadership positions held by Lammers include the past president of the Financial Planning Association of Nebraska, past president of the Nebraska Institute of Certified Financial Planners, and past president of the Nebraska General Agents and Managers Association.
