NAIFA’s LACP Exam Offered Online in July and August

Producers seeking to qualify for NAIFA’s Life and Annuity Certified Professional (LACP) certification have an opportunity to complete the LACP exam online during July and August. The standard application deadline is June 1. Applicants may register online.

The National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), the accrediting body for the LACP, authorized online testing in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Normally under NCCA requirements, LACP applicants must take the exam in person at one of the nearly 1,000 Scantron-affiliated, proctored test centers around the world.

After completing and receiving approval of their application, LACP exam takers will receive information on how to schedule their live, online, proctored exam. A live, online, proctored exam involves a live proctor watching the exam taker via a video connection during the exam period. The proctor will perform a video check of the candidate’s workspace and follow strict guidelines to eliminate the possibility of cheating or copying any exam questions.

The July 2020 exam period has been extended through August.

Normally, the LACP exam is offered during the months of January, July, and October. Because of the COVID-19 outbreak, NAIFA has also received authorization to expand the July testing period for an additional month through August. Candidates will have the opportunity to schedule an exam time on a date between July 1 and August 31.

Before taking the exam, candidates must complete and receive approval of their application. The deadline to submit an application without a late fee for the July-August exam period is June 1. The cost for the application and exam is $500 for NAIFA members and $700 for non-members. Applications will be accepted with a late fee until July 15. The late application fee is $50.

The NAIFA Certification Commission developed the LACP certification for advisors who wish to demonstrate knowledge and experience beyond the requirements for industry licensure. A NAIFA LACP assesses client needs and implements solutions in accordance with the highest ethical standards, ensuring that client needs are met on an ongoing basis.

Certification is a means for qualified individuals to indicate to customers, employers, co-workers, insurance companies, and other stakeholders that they have met the standards of an impartial, recognized organization. Certification provides assurance to stakeholders that persons certified have met objective standards of knowledge and experience.
