The Q4 State of NAIFA will feature NAIFA President Thomas Michel, LACP, and CEO Kevin Mayeux, CAE, updating all interested stakeholders on how NAIFA is serving members and the insurance and financial services industry. They will also outline the association’s progress towards meeting goals established by the NAIFA 2025 Strategic Plan. The program will feature a legislative and regulatory update by NAIFA Assistant Vice President for Government Relations Judi Carsrud.

NAIFA is very sad to learn of the passing of JoAnn Martin, the former CEO of Ameritas and a respected leader in the insurance and financial services industry. Martin led Ameritas for more than 10 years before her retirement in 2020. She was a strong supporter of NAIFA and our industry.

NAIFA member since 1993, Robert B. Wellendorf ll, Business Exit Planning Expert President at Executive Wealth Strategies, will be joining us for 2021 APC Impact Week. Wellendorf will be providing a presentation covering a deep dive case study on life insurance in the business marketplace on October 20^th.

A new survey indicates that individuals’ thinking around retirement has changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While older Americans plan to stay in the workforce longer due to the pandemic, some young professionals plan to retire earlier.   

NAIFA Senior Vice President for Government Relations, Diane Boyle will be joining us during the 2021 APC Impact Week. Just added to the agenda, Boyle will provide a legislative and regulatory update on Tuesday, October 19.

Martha Shanks has been a loyal member of NAIFA since the fall of 2019 and has been helping her clients with reverse mortgage loans at Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation since 2018.

Martha started her career in real estate in 2005, continued her journey through many different positions, and is now 100% focused as a reverse mortgage planner. She has always had a desire to help people solve their financial problems, and her current role allows her to do just that. She loves helping her clients, typically people over the age of 60, to understand how a reverse mortgage works and how it can help them to live a better retirement with fewer financial worries.

Women in Insurance & Financial Services (WIFS) is a proud NAIFA Advocacy Partner. 2021 marks their 85th anniversary and NAIFA members and staff joined WIFS for their annual conference and celebration in Indianapolis. The theme for this special anniversary conference was "Shine: The Spark to Ignites at 85." 

We are #NAIFAproud of our members who are actively leading within WIFS. Especially, Toni Gonzales, LACP, loyal member since 2017. Toni was elected 2021-22 WIFS Vice President during the conference.

Allianz Life has published new research suggesting that most retirement plan sponsors and participants are interested in products with guaranteed lifetime income options.  

According to the study, the majority of employees surveyed are concerned about their financial stability in retirement. Among participants in employer-sponsored plans, 73% would consider participating in a guaranteed income plan. Additionally, 64% report that economic uncertainty resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic has made a guaranteed income option more appealing. The study also showed that 77% of participants would have a more favorable view of their employer if they were provided a guaranteed income option.
