NAIFA Invites Women and Hispanic Agents and Advisors to Two New Programs in August

The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) has announced the addition of two programs that will run on Tuesday, August 16^th pre-conference to its upcoming Apex event being held in Phoenix, Arizona. The sessions focus on raising awareness for state, interstate, and federal advocacy and stress the importance of financial advisors to get involved, starting with voting, in the political process.

The first session focuses on women working in the financial services industry and emphasizes why now, more than ever, it is critical for women advisors to be the voice of the clients in their care. The session will be co-led by NAIFA and the Women in Insurance and Financial Services (WIFS) and features Diane Boyle, Senior Vice President, NAIFA Government Relations, and Toni Gonzales, MBA, LACP, Vice President, Ohio National Financial Services, both of whom are members of both NAIFA and WIFS.

A new survey by NAIFA’s industry partner LIMRA and EY found that about 75% of employers believe they will need to modify their employee benefits packages within the next five years to attract and retain top talent. Among the top benefits employers believe workers will be most interested in are: life insurance, paid family and medical leave, short-term disability, long-term disability, and physical wellness programs. The survey also found that a significant portion of workers place a greater value on workplace insurance benefits – particularly health insurance, life insurance, and disability insurance – than they did prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We’re proud to recognize NAIFA member Cheryl Canzanella, CLU, ChSNC, LUTCF, winner of two NAIFA 2022 Q2 awards. Canzanella won the Grand Prize in NAIFA’s Q2 Referral Contest, recruiting 17 new members. She was also honored as NAIFA’s Q2 Membership Hardhat Winner, given to a member who “lays it on the line” for NAIFA membership. 

NAIFA is sad to learn that NAIFA-Indiana Past President George "Andy" Beutter, LUTCF, FSS, LACP, passed away on July 2 in South Bend, IN. Well-loved by his community, Beutter’s passion was protecting families. He treated his clients like family and was known for his kindness, optimism, and passion for life. 

Beutter became a loyal member of NAIFA (then the National Association of Life Underwriters) in 1990. He served in many roles with NAIFA-IN, including as President from 2011-2012, Trustee, Treasurer, and member of the Government Relations Board and Committee and the State Executive Committee.

Vinny Dallo, ChFC®, CLU^®, CLTC, LUTCF, serves as President-Elect for NAIFA- New York and has been a loyal NAIFA member since 2005. He practices with Kappan Financial, LLC, in Fairport, NY, where he specializes in personal financial planning.

Vinny’s introduction to the financial services industry is rather unique. He was initially brought on to the MetLife team as a call center manager. He excelled in the position after creating a subscription service that called MetLife advisors’ current clients to strengthen their existing relationships. For a minimal price, advisors both new and established could sign up for these “warm appointments” that ultimately lead to stronger advisor-client relationships and increased production. Vinny’s initial job as a call center manager enabled him to see the ins and outs of a career as a financial advisor with MetLife before pursuing it himself.
