April Is National Financial Literacy Month

Christine Virost is a Registered Representative at Western & Southern Financial Group and a new NAIFA member.

She first entered the financial services industry when a recruiter reached out to her on LinkedIn to see if she would be interested in a career. While she had no prior industry experience, she was ready for change and jumped at the recruiter’s offer to train her.

Virost was first attracted to the industry because “finances and insurance are often taboo topics that no one discusses or wants to think about.” She was intrigued by the opportunity to “potentially change someone’s point of view and help set them up to have overall protection.”

One year later, her initial attraction remains true. To do this day, she enjoys “meeting all kinds of different people in all walks of life and helping them based on what is going on in their lives.” Virost is passionate about genuinely getting to know her clients. She says, “If you put someone down as a beneficiary, I want to meet them. I want to have a conversation. It’s not just a financial thing; it’s a relationship. When something does happen to your loved one, you already know who is going to help.”

After walking past the NAIFA logo on the front door of her agency over and over and upon a recommendation from a mentor, she decided that NAIFA would be a great opportunity. Though she’s only been part of the association for a short time, Virost is already grateful for her membership. “From the welcome e-mails to helping her make connections, to orientation,” she says, “NAIFA has a soul and a heartbeat, and that’s pretty important.”

Welcome to NAIFA, Christine!
