April Is National Financial Literacy Month

American General Life Companies (American General), a part of AIG, has named Joe Ross Vice President, Sales Productivity and Business Development. He joins American General from Protective Life in Cincinnati, where most recently he served as VP, Sales Development.

"At AIG, we continue to invest in top talent as we build our world-class sales support team," says John Deremo, Executive Vice President and Chief Distribution Officer for AIG Financial Distributors. "Joe's more than 33 years of experience in the life insurance and financial planning industries will further strengthen our relationships with our valued institutional and brokerage general agency distribution partners as we concentrate on helping them deliver customized, effective solutions to their clients."

He adds, "With responsibility for overseeing American General life product and sales training, Joe is focused on working closely with our distribution partners to help them grow their businesses. His hiring is further substantiation of our commitment to being their most valued carrier."

Ross has worked in the insurance industry since becoming licensed at the age of 16. A Chartered Financial Consultant, Chartered Life Underwriter and Certified Retirement Counselor, he is a member of the Society of Financial Services Professionals and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). He holds FINRA Series 6 and 63 licenses and earned his bachelor of business administration degree in finance and insurance from the University of Iowa.
