NAIFA Members Provide
Financial Security

Michael Davis, CFP, ChFC, CLU, CLTC, didn’t follow a traditional path into financial services, but his journey reflects a pattern that’s common among some of the most committed advisors, a mid-career realization that success without balance isn’t sustainable. After nearly two decades in the auto industry, where he had worked his way into upper management and built a strong income, Mike reached a turning point. The long retail hours and constant demands of the job were taking a toll, especially with a young family at home. A moment that stuck with him was driving to work on a holiday morning and seeing other families spending time together, something his career rarely allowed. Within months, he made the decision to step away and start over.

That decision came with real risk. Mike entered the financial services profession in his 40s, without a natural network in his relatively new community in Leominster, Massachusetts, and without prior industry connections to guide him. What he did have, however, was a longstanding interest in financial topics and a reputation, even in previous roles, as the person others turned to for guidance on benefits, retirement plans, and financial decisions. That instinct to help others navigate complex financial questions ultimately became the foundation of his practice.

Today, Mike leads Bright Future Financial, where he and his team focus primarily on pre-retirees and retirement savers, helping clients structure their assets and prepare for long-term financial security. His approach emphasizes practical planning and collaboration. In addition to his core work, he has expanded into group benefits by partnering with another advisor to deliver specialized expertise while maintaining strong client relationships. This model allows him to grow strategically while ensuring clients receive high-quality support.

One of the aspects Mike values most about his career is the flexibility it provides. After years in a rigid, schedule-driven environment, he now has control over his time and the ability to prioritize both his clients and his family. That autonomy, combined with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives, has reinforced that his career change was the right decision.

Mike was introduced to NAIFA early in his career and has remained engaged ever since, viewing membership as essential to both professional growth and the broader health of the industry. He is particularly passionate about advocacy, recognizing the real impact legislation can have on advisors and their clients. He points to past regulatory efforts as examples of how well-intentioned policies can create unintended consequences, limiting access to financial guidance for the very individuals they are meant to protect. For Mike, staying involved and supporting advocacy efforts is not optional, it is a responsibility.

Beyond advocacy, he values the collaborative nature of the NAIFA community. Through peer relationships, study groups, and partnerships, he has built both professional connections and lasting friendships. He also serves in a leadership role within NAIFA Massachusetts, including involvement in grassroots efforts and participation in state and national advocacy events. His engagement extends to regular attendance at Congressional Conference and meetings with legislators, where he works to ensure the voice of the advisor community is heard.

Reflecting on his career, Mike is clear that while the transition into financial services was challenging, it has been deeply rewarding. He often encourages others to consider the profession, particularly those who are motivated by both independence and the opportunity to help others. For him, the combination of flexibility, purpose, and impact defines not only his career, but his commitment to the industry moving forward.
