NAIFA Members Provide Financial Security

May is Disability Insurance Awareness Month (DIAM), a national awareness campaign that NAIFA’s consumer division Life Happens created and coordinates each year. This awareness campaign is critical because 4 in 10 people of working age are “extremely concerned” about being able to support themselves if an illness or injury were to keep them out of work, according to the 2023 Insurance Barometer Study by Life Happens and LIMRA.

Many people don’t know, however, that there is a solution to address their concern: disability insurance. Only 18% say they own it, according to the study. DIAM provides a great opportunity for financial professionals to educate people about what disability insurance is and help them get the coverage they need. This year’s theme for DIAM can help us spread the message, because it epitomizes what insurance does: protect people against the unknown.

Disability Insurance: Because Life Happens

Life Happens also has a full suite of themed disability insurance content available to help NAIFA members with marketing outreach to clients and prospects.

  • “Disability insurance because life happens” digital flyer and email template
  • New graphics and videos that are perfect for social media
  • Prewritten social media posts that you can use as-is or modify
  • A selection of DI assets in Spanish ... and more

NAIFA members can log in and access all the resources available to NAIFA members online. Then, it’s time to spread the word about how people can protect their ability to earn a living with disability insurance.
