NAIFA Members Provide Financial Security

When Bruce Palmieri, CLU®, ChFC®, CFP®, applied for a life insurance policy in 1990, he didn’t expect to find a career—but that’s just what happened. His Northwestern Mutual advisor recruited him into the business and, over 30 years later, Palmieri is a stalwart of the insurance and financial services industry.

Serving Main Street USA

Palmieri primarily works with clients who are looking to retire soon and want to make sure they have their finances in order. He helps them plan for the future, delving into the details of their retirement accounts, employee benefits, life insurance, long-term care planning and more. By taking a holistic approach to each client’s unique circumstances, he’s able to help them build a strategy that works for them.

After 32 years in the business, Palmieri has helped countless clients achieve financial security. He talks about an experience with two clients who came to him several years ago. They wanted to retire but weren’t sure if they had saved enough. Palmieri helped them manage their finances so that they could retire confidently. After two years, they did retire, and they’ve been doing well ever since. Palmieri says this is the best part of his job—the satisfaction of helping someone achieve their financial goals and protect their family.

NAIFA Membership and Advocacy

Palmieri has served in several leadership positions within NAIFA, including as Past President of NAIFA-MD and NAIFA-Baltimore and serving on the board of each. Over the years, he’s seen the power of NAIFA’s political advocacy in action. “Spending time in Annapolis, MD, lobbying and working with our lobbyists as well as going to NAIFA’s Annual Congressional Conference in Washington, D.C., has opened my eyes to the issues that our industry faces, that everyone in our business needs to address every day,” he says. He works with legislators to educate them on how proposed legislation will affect industry professionals and the millions of Americans they represent.

Palmieri encourages all industry professionals to get involved in political advocacy. “The involvement is really about the future of our business,” he says. “There is no law written in this country that isn't worked on at the grassroots level. Every one of the senators and congresspeople that have to decide on these laws have to ask people like us for our input, so that they can look at all sides of legislation to make sure it's going to go down the right path.”

Outside of the Office

When he’s not working, Palmieri enjoys long weekends on the eastern shore of Maryland, golfing, and spending time with his rescued hound dogs, Cade and Olivia. He volunteers with the Catholic Charities of Baltimore and serves on the Towson University Alumni Alliance board, which organizes events around student involvement and mentorship.

For his service to his community and our industry and association, we’re #NAIFAproud to have Bruce Palmieri as a part of our NAIFA family.
