February Is I Love NAIFA Month

In 2012, Nicholas Limongelli went into the family business and joined Northeast Financial Network. Now the Director of Insurance Brokerage, Limongelli helps his clients find the right disability insurance coverage and serves as a resource for other financial advisors who sell disability insurance. 

Making a Difference

The best part of his career, Limongelli says, is meeting and helping people—whether protecting his clients with insurance coverage or lending his expertise to fellow advisors. “I'm constantly meeting new people,” he begins. “It's always fresh and interesting and that's definitely something that keeps me going. I'm never doing the same thing twice in a day.”

The most important quality for an agent or advisor, says Limongelli, is trustworthiness. A crucial part of his work is cultivating trust with clients and colleagues alike. He describes his approach: “I'm building a narrative that leads to a relationship that builds trust."

For 50 years, Northeast Financial Network has been providing peace of mind to individuals and families in their Long Island community. When Limongelli joined the agency, he helped many mid-career professionals plan for their financial futures. A decade later, those clients feel secure in their financial well-being despite global economic uncertainty. 

The Value of NAIFA

Limongelli joined NAIFA not long after entering the insurance and financial services industry. In May, he attended NAIFA New York’s Annual Legislative Day and met with state legislators to discuss ways to better protect Main Street USA. “[At NAIFA], we have a process that's set up to help members if they'd like to go meet with representatives who are passing laws and bills about our business,” he says. He values the experience he’s gotten from working with NAIFA’s political advocacy, as it’s taught him more about the legislative process and how he can have a voice and stand up for his clients.

Networking is another invaluable benefit of NAIFA membership, says Limongelli. He’s been able to analyze the way new advisors and industry veterans each approach their field. “It's helping me gain some exposure and see what other people are doing in the business,” he says. With the added insights from top speakers, the diverse array of perspectives at NAIFA events helps him find the solutions that work best for his clients. 

Outside of the Office

When he’s not working, Limongelli spends his time working in his yard and rebuilding a camper van, which he plans to put to good use. An avid traveler, Limongelli has driven from Portland to Los Angeles and looks forward to completing a road trip across the country from the east coast to the west coast.
