November Is Long-Term Care Awareness Month

Tinja Anderson is passionate about serving her clients and her community.

Serving Main Street USA

After spending a decade doing strategic sales and communications consulting for Fortune 500 companies, Tinja Anderson decided to make a change. “In consulting, it's all about business; it's never personal,” she says. When she joined MassMutual Greater Houston in 2018, she found that she liked the personal connection with her clients. Now, she provides comprehensive financial planning services, from fee-based planning to executive compensation to employee benefits.

Anderson is the co-founder of the SpecialCare Planning Team of MassMutual Greater Houston. The team is dedicated to maintaining and uplifting quality of life by building out a life care plan. It’s some of the most fulfilling work she’s done, she says. "It's about understanding what a family needs in order to maximize government benefits to safeguard a child's future and quality of life.”

Joining NAIFA

Anderson was introduced to NAIFA through her uncle, who said his involvement with NAIFA—particularly with the Leadership in Life Institute (LILI)—has been one of the most impactful parts of his practice. Since 2018, Anderson has excelled in her career as a financial advisor. In 2020, she received NAIFA-Houston's Rising Star Award. The following year, she was awarded Junior Advisor of the Year for MassMutual Greater Houston and joined the board of NAIFA-Houston.

Outside of the Office

When she’s not working, Anderson stays busy. She’s a triathlete and reigning queen of Ms. Texas International. Her platform was raising awareness of celiac disease—educating, advocating, and empowering people who suffer from or are impacted by the autoimmune disorder. She also recently adopted a Blue Doberman puppy named Henry and loves spending time with him.

Anderson gives back to her community through several organizations. She is on the board of directors for Summerhouse Houston, an organization that supports adults with intellectual disabilities, and Women’s Finance Exchange, which supports professional development for women in finance. She’s also involved in the Family to Family Support Network for the disabled community and YES to YOUTH, which advocates for suicide awareness and support.

Thank you, Tinja, for your hard work and dedication. We look forward to a bright future in the association for you and are #NAIFAproud to call you one of our own.
