NAIFA sends our gratitude and utmost respect to our nation’s military veterans. We commemorate Veterans Day as a reminder of the service and sacrifice our fellow Americans have provided to ensure our freedoms.
Many NAIFA members served with honor and distinction in the armed forces before transitioning into successful insurance and financial services careers. This is not at all surprising. Positive attributes we associate with military service – including leadership, confidence, competence, and a dedication to service – are also those that lead to success in our business.
NAIFA has worked to encourage military personnel interested in transitioning into careers in insurance and financial services. NAIFA state advocacy efforts have teamed with insurance departments and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to promote a program under the GI Bill that compensates veterans in participating states up to $2,000 for the cost of taking insurance producer licensing exams.
NAIFA state affiliates and members have been instrumental in many of those states, encouraging insurance departments to participate. We have testified before the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) in support of the VA program.
