Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. (Ameritas) announced Bob Herum, CLU, ChFC, second vice president – individual disability income sales, was the seventh recipient of the W. Harold Petersen Lifetime Achievement Award. Herum’s nomination was based on several criteria, including demonstrating leadership in his professional life and making a distinctive contribution to the disability industry. He has dedicated his career to inspiring and empowering insurance representatives, providing education and sales training, and offering quality disability insurance.
Rick Cordaro, DIA, LUTCF, president – International DI Society, along with W. Harold Petersen, presented the award to Herum during a ceremony held October 15 at the International DI Society’s Annual Conference awards luncheon at the Marriott Denver at Cherry Creek.
“Bob’s contributions to the disability income insurance industry and consumers are immeasurable,” said Paul Wesling, senior vice president – individual DI product management for Ameritas. “From his keen perspective and extensive experience, to his enthusiasm and drive to provide outstanding products and training, he has made a huge impact on producers as well as clients who depend on us.”
Herum has more than 26 years of experience in the insurance industry and has demonstrated success as a producer, wholesaler and manager. He joined Ameritas in 2008 and is a member of the DI product management department. He has been published in numerous industry journals and has been a frequent speaker on a variety of disability and worksite sales topics. He was president of the International DI Society for two years and served as vice-chair for NAHU’s Disability Insurance Advisory Group. He has been an active NAIFA member since 1987 and is a member of the marketing committee for the Council on Disability Awareness, where he helped develop their “Defend Your Income” campaign.
The W. Harold Petersen Lifetime Achievement Award was created by the founders of the International DI Society as a tribute to Mr. W. Harold Petersen, RHU, an influential leader in the disability insurance industry.
