A new report shines the spotlight on NAIFA members who have been recognized as "Diversity Champions" because of their exceptional efforts promoting equal participation of diverse people in the insurance and financial-services industries.
The Champions of Diversity report reflects NAIFA’s mission to be an industry leader on diversity and inclusion by attracting and nurturing members from diverse backgrounds and providing the resources members require to successfully meet the changing needs of their markets. Like most forward-thinking organizations, NAIFA sees diversity and inclusion not as something organizations have to do, but as part of a comprehensive strategy designed to enhance employee engagement and drive financial performance.
In 2017, NAIFA recognized Evelyn Gellar, LUTCF, with the inaugural Diversity Champion Award. Gellar is a financial professional with Empire Wealth Strategies and AVP, Market Development, Penn Mutual. She is also the first Latina President of the Women in Insurance & Financial Services.
This action report highlights the many accomplishments of diversity champions as they create and enhance diversity programs in their workplaces and in their communities. The report also includes articles on diversity promotion, key steps for achieving success, and web resources for more information.
As the U.S. becomes more diverse, the imperative for most companies that seek long-term growth is to attract and retain talented individuals who are reflective of the communities they serve. We hope the ideas presented in this report will help foster a workforce that empowers organizations to meet the changing needs of its markets.
